Being the youngest of 12 very musical children has given Tim the chance to explore various areas of music. After a couple of years of struggling through piano lessons when he was very young, he joyfully quit and didn't play the piano again until he was 16. But when he started up again, he quickly became very frustrated with his inability to read music. So he started playing by ear and exploring the creative side of music.
A couple years later, after writing a few songs, Tim became interested in the guitar and became addicted after receiving one for Christmas. Once he picked it up, it was extremely hard to put it down.
Tim had his first recording experience in the summer of 2000. He was living with his brother, Marc, who is extremely talented with computers/electronics. After a couple months of planning and preparations, Marc and Tim set up what they like to call "Porter Productions" and in two weeks recorded the entire album "Pathways". Although it was produced primarily for family and friends, the recording experience was priceless and was a great stepping stone for what Tim is doing today.
Since then, Tim has been performing throughout Utah every chance he gets. He is currently working on another album, which is being produced by Rich Bischoff(http://www.richbischoff.com) of Studio 14 in Logan, Utah. Tim is very excited about this album that is expected to be released in the fall of 2002. Be sure and check this site for songs that are in the "working phase" for this upcoming album.
